Proper care of your soy wax candles will help extend their life and ensure a clean, even burn. Follow these care instructions:
1. Trim the wick: Before use, trim the wick by about 6 mm. This will prevent a big flame, excessive smoke and soot, and ensure a slow and even burn.
2. First burn is important: On first use, allow the candle to burn until the entire surface is melted. This prevents “tunneling” – melting in the center.
3. Keep out of the wind: Keep your candles out of the wind as it will burn unevenly, cause the flame to waver and produce soot.
4. Burn Time: For best results, we recommend burning your soy wax candle for 2-4 hours at a time. Burning for longer periods can cause the wick to shift and the candle to overheat.
5. Keep your wax pool clean: Regularly remove any foreign objects, such as matches or wick pieces, from your melted wax to prevent uneven burning.
6. Extinguish Properly: When extinguishing a candle, use a candle snuffer or dip the wick into melted wax to extinguish it, then straighten the wick afterwards to prevent smoke buildup and ensure good burning the next time you use it.
7. Store Properly: Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Heat and light can soften the wax and cause discoloration.
8. Return the wick to the center: After extinguishing the flame, if the wick has moved, return it to the center. This will help it burn evenly the next time you use it.
Following these care instructions will maximize the life and performance of your soy wax candles, ensuring a consistently pleasant experience every time.
